A School of HOPE

We made a promise to our community when we opened in 1995 that Jefferson County High School would be the economic future of Jefferson County. Our first order of business towards that goal was to create our own vision of the ideal school. That vision lead us to create our day to day mission which reflects an overarching value- Every child, Every day.

Every student must feel a sense of authenic hope to stay motivated to become or remain a high performer. To meet this need, we created our mantra- a school of HOPEHigher expectations for student learning, Opportunities for success, Personalized learning environment and Experiences in real world problem solving.

Through Advanced Placement Courses and dual enrollment at area colleges and technical colleges, Jefferson County High School offers students opportunities to graduate from high school with a leg up on postsecondary education. This year 47% of our senior class are enrolled in a certificate program at Sandersville Technical College while earning their high school diplomas. We also provide Adanced Placement opportunities, allowing students to earn college credit while they are in high school. We currently offer the following AP courses: AP Chemistry, AP Literature and Composition, AP Language, and AP Art Studio.

At Jefferson County High School, we believe it is our responsibility to have high expectations for all students. We also believe it is our responsibility to offer personalized support so every student has what they need to reach their highest potential. We ask that students accept their responsibility and use the resources we afford them. We ask that students do their part. At Jefferson County High School, we ask parents to accept their responsibility by ensuring and encouraging their children to come prepared to learn and use the resources we provide.

Student achievement is a shared responsibility between school, student, and home.  By working together we will prosper as a school, a community, a state, and a nation.
